About
It all started when...
As a twelve-year-old, I was riding my bike in my hometown with my older brother. We came upon and entered (Ok trespassed) an abandoned warehouse on the river running through town. Times were different. It was safe for kids to be out all day on their bikes and as a boy, if you found an abandoned warehouse you went in. An abandoned warehouse was a magnet for a young boy.
The warehouse was empty except for a cardboard box in the middle of the floor. The box contained four loudspeakers. They were ten inch woofers with white cones and black dust caps in the centre. Wow! What a find! Far better than finding a lost two dollar bill in your pocket. Back in the day, there was a two dollar Canadian note and it was worth something. Now the only problem was how to get the treasure home. The obstacle was riding five kilometers while balancing a box of speakers on the handlebars.
The exceptional find combined with an interest in electronics led to ... a hobby building loudspeaker systems for friends using an imaginary company called Dynamic Audio Engineering (DÆ) ... studying electrical engineering at University so that I could understand the technical papers written on the topic of loudspeaker design ... a twenty-six year (and counting) career in engineering ... and most recently registering the company name and this website and the projects described.
